Questions
Plain answers
Is Gavel Chicago free to use?
Yes. Browsing and contacting a firm is free. Gavel Chicago is paid only by firms that buy a Sponsored placement, which is always labeled.
How are firms ordered?
Sponsored listings appear first, labeled and capped at three per page. Then claimed listings whose registration was checked, alphabetically, then all other firms alphabetically. There are no ratings and no editorial picks.
Where do the listing details come from?
From each firm's own website or from the firm itself. Every listing shows the source and the date it was last checked. Firms can correct or remove their listing at any time.
How do I check a lawyer's registration?
The Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) publishes a free public lawyer search. Every listing links to it. We don't copy or query ARDC data ourselves.
